Tata Power generates 53,556 MUs in FY18

India's largest integrated power company, Tata Power, produced 53,556 million units (MUs) of electricity in the financial year 2017-18 from all its units — thermal, hydel, wind and solar, up from  52,512 million units power generated in the previous fiscal.  

Tata Power generated 14,255 million units of electricity from an installed generation capacity of 10,757 MW, in the fourth quarter ended 31 March 2018, amounting to 4 per cent of the country's power generation.
Tata power's generation from primary stations for the quarter were: 
  • Mundra 26,686 MUs 
  • Maithon 7,406 MUs 
  • Trombay 6,294 MUs
  • Jojobera 2,978 MUs and 
  • Haldia 775 MUs 
In addition, its subsidiaries Industrial Energy Limited reported generation of 2,592 MUs. Tata Ppower Renewable Energy Ltd generated 919 MUs of clean energy sources (solar and wind) and Walwhan Renewable Energy Limited generated 1,688 MUs.
Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power said, “It is good that we ended the fiscal on a higher generation note. With a commitment to increase our generation output by 40-50 per cent by 2025 through green and clean source of energy, we have developed a well charted growth strategy to fulfill it.”
Tata Power, together with all its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed generation capacity of 10,757 MW (as of May 2018) as compared to 10,613 MW in FY17 from various fuel sources, such as thermal (coal, gas and oil), hydroelectric power, renewable energy (wind and solar PV) and waste heat recovery.
