Tata Power to add 150 MW wind power capacity in 2011

Tata Power will install 150 MW of wind power capacity in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu by the year-end, of which 45 MW has already been installed, the company said today.
The company has already placed an order for 150 MW additional wind capacity, to be set up in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu over the year, the company said in a press release.
Tata Power has a current installed wind power capacity of 273 MW across four states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
In Maharashtra, the company has set up wind farms in Visapur and Sadawaghapur in Satara district, Khandke and Supa in Ahmednagar district, and Bramanvel in Dhulia district.
The company has also installed two micro horizontal axis wind turbines (2 to 5 kW) during the current financial year, the release said, adding that Tata Power was also in the process of installing two vertical axis turbines of 5 and 12 kW in capacity, respectively.
Tata Power, India's largest integrated private power utility, is increasingly focusing on renewable sources of power generation as part of its sustainable development initiatives.
