Tata Steel hospital near Kalinganagar on track

In a further step toward corporate social responsibility, Tata Steel is setting up a 200-bed hospital near its industrial complex at Kalinganagar in Orissa's Jajpur district, where it is setting up a six-million tonne integrated steel plant
The hospital will be established near its rehabilitation colony at Gobarghati. The project will be completed over the next two years, with the first phase commissioning slated in next one month.
The hospital building is coming up over four acres of land, and the civil construction of the project is almost over. About Rs30 crore will be spent on the hospital project. About 10,000 people are expected to benefit, including the families affected by the Kalinganagar project and also the people in surrounding villages.
The hospital would have round-the-clock service, a pathology lab and an outdoor complex when completed. The number of beds in the hospital would increase to 200 in phases. To begin with, the hospital would have 4 to 5 doctors and a corresponding number of paramedical staff.
Various health services like check-up programmes, health camps during epidemics and awareness-building activities for people on health issues are proposed to be planned through the hospital.
Though the company has a dispensary at Gobarghati to provide basic health services, the overwhelming response to the dispensary has motivated the company to go for a full-fledged hospital for the locals, it said in the state capital of Bhubaneshwar today.
