Toyota Kirloskar Motors today launched the diesel version of Corolla Altis that is on offer for Rs10.95 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The car is being offered in three manual transmission grades D4DJ, D4DG and D4DGL. The top end model will come with a price tag of Rs13.75 lakh.

The Altis is currently available with a petrol engine and Toyota hopes to garner a higher share of this fast-growing segment with the diesel version. The petrol Altis is currently available in the range of Rs10 lakh to Rs14 lakh in ex-showroom Delhi.

The changes in the new model are mostly to the engine while the exterior largely is the same.

The Altis diesel is powered by a 1.4 litre common rail diesel engine capable of delivering 88.4PS and a torque of 205 Nm. A manual six speed gearbox handles the transmission duties.

Though the power specifications may be less than exciting, the fuel efficiency figures at 21.4 kmpl are the best figures in the diesel segment.

Bookings for the diesel Corolla Altis for which the company has set a target of 800 units a month are set to being immediately.
