V-Guard completes 25 years in business

He started the company in 1977 with two employees for making stabilisers. Initially the production was 50 units a month. The company had a turnover of Rs 117 crore last year, and for the current fiscal it is expected go up to Rs 120 crore.
Product quality is our major selling point, says Chittilappilly. After-sales service and timely diversification are other factors that have contributed to its speedy growth. V-Guard manufactures 12 products that include stabilisers, pumps, water-heaters, UPS systems and clocks.
The company’s first product, the refrigerator stabiliser, continues to be its flagship product, retaining its supremacy in the south. V-Guard opened offices in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in 1986. A cable-making unit was started in Coimbatore in 1999.
The Veega Land Amusement Park, started in April 2000, was the dream project of Chittilappilly. More than 5 lakh people visited the park in the first year itself. This year the number of visitors is expected to go up to 7 lakh. It stands second among the amusement parks in the country in facilities, safety and other aspects.
V-Star, women’s dress material manufacturing unit, is managed by his wife. V-Star’s turnover was Rs 10 crore last year and this year it is expected to touch Rs 14 crore.
