Vodafone India has rolled out a 4G network in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, following its launch in the state's business capital Kochi. The GSM operator will increase the intensity of its 4G rollout covering important metros - Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata - before March 2016.

''We started our 4G roll-out in India beginning with Kochi and are now delighted to launch our high-speed 4G services in Thiruvananthapuram that will give customers the power to experience the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the globe today. As a steadfast partner of Digital India, we remain focused on deploying multiple technologies –be it 2G, 3G and now 4G-for optimum use as  each technology has its own vital role to play in servicing the myriad connectivity needs of consumers across the country," saiid Suresh Kumar, Operations Director (South) at Vodafone India.

The operator will provide free upgrade of 4G to all Vodafone customers in Thiruvananthapuram along with 4G SIM. The company has launched packs ranging from a trial pack of 120 MB at Rs29 to a bonanza pack of 20GB at Rs2499.

Vodafone 4G services can be accessed from 4G-enabled handsets offered by leading smartphone manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Micromax, Microsoft, Lava and Xolo.

"Kerala is a significant growth market for Vodafone India with data revenue growing over 75 per cent annually, which is well above the national average. With this launch, we are happy to announce that our 4G footprint in Kerala has increased to 10 towns. We will soon expand our footprint to Kozhikode and continue to pursue our customer centric strategy of catering to the evolving needs of retail and enterprise customers for better and smarter solutions for both voice and data," said Abhijit Kishore, Business Head –Kerala, Vodafone India.

Over the last 18 months, Vodafone India has invested more than Rs 700 crores in Kerala towards network expansion and modernisation to build a technology and energy-efficient network architecture to support the volumes and need for speed from customers.
