Volkswagen announces ‘Volkfest 2014’, 24-day mega-carnival

Volkswagen's today announced 'Volksfest 2014,' a 24-day mega-carnival where the company's existing and prospective customers could avail of a range of offers, benefits and assured gifts, www.indiancarsbikes.in reported. Additionally, prospective customers would also be able to test drive Volkswagen cars of their choice at Volkswagen dealerships across the country.
During Volksfest 2014, which would coincide with the upcoming festive season in India, customers could avail best deals on car finance and other valuable offers on new car purchase. Offers on after sales services would include roadside assistance, benefits on selected Volkswagen accessories and merchandise, body and paint services. Volksfest 2014 would also provide an opportunity to prospective customers to avail free insurance on purchase of New Polo and monetary benefits on the purchase of Vento and Jetta.
The offer would be open through Das WeltAuto, Volkswagen brand's pre-owned car division. It would begin today and conclude on 31 October.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen's sub-four meter compact sedan based on the Polo hatchback would be expected to launch either in late 2015 or early 2016 www.cartrade.com reported. The vehicle was under development specially for the Indian market, as the sub-four meter excise duty norm was applicable in India only. The latest reports show that the sedan was already in its final phase of testing and had been built in a short span of time.
Speculation had swirled that the sedan would be a smaller version of the Vento, but rumours had been put to rest with the company officials at Volkswagen denying the possibility.
The sedan being developed under the codename Polo Stuffe, would inherit engines from new Polo range. Entry level petrol variants would get the 1.2 litre, three cylinder, petrol engine, while high-end petrol trims could get 1.2 litre, four cylinder, turbo petrol engine.
Base diesel variants would be powered by the new 1.5 litre diesel power-train that also powered diesel variants of new Polo,Vento and Rapid. A 90 PS variant of 1.5 litre engine was expected to power Polo Stuffe, while the 105 PS version of 1.5 litre diesel engine could be equipped in the top end diesel trims.
The price is expected to range between Rs6 lakh to Rs8 lakh and it would take on the likes of Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Dzire and Tata Zest in its segment.
