Windows Vista, 2007 Office unveiled in India

Mumbai: Software giant Microsoft today introduced the retail version of Windows Vista and 2007 Office System in India. It hopes to reach four editions of the product to 18 million customers in a month.
The four editions are Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Home Basic and Windows Vista Starter. The Microsoft 2007 Office is available in two editions of Office Home & Student 2007 and Office Basic 2007.
Microsoft India says that it has already sold nearly nine lakh licensed editions to corporates.
Neelam Dhawan, managing director, Microsoft India said the differentiator in the latest operating system was on four counts of search, security, connectivity and ease of usage.
According to Ravi Venkatesan, chairman, Microsoft India, Windows Vista will be is priced comparably with its last offering Windows XP, and will be available in four consumer editions.
Windows Vista loaded PCs in India will retail at a starting price of Rs22,000 while Microsoft 2007 Office consumer edition starts at Rs6,000.
