Wipro Ltd, India's third-largest information technology, consulting and business process services company, has secured a contract for providing IT infrastructure for leading international insurer RSA.
Under the contract, Wipro will provide IT backbone for RSA's requirements across the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, over a seven-year period.
Wipro will be providing infrastructure as a service for mainframe, mid-range, storage, cloud and end-user services in addition to a multilingual service desk for RSA employees in all the regions.
This will enable pan-European standardisation, improve end-to-end responsibility and a platform for business-led collaboration, RSA stated in a release. RSA aims to drive benefits through the consolidation of services across its regional businesses, it added
The agreement Wipro follows a 10-month sourcing programme, which included 20 bidders.
''We are delighted to partner with Wipro to provide our IT infrastructure needs across UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. Throughout the selection process, Wipro was a front runner because of its technical excellence and customer centricity. This partnership is a major step forward in our Group technology strategy enabling us to provide a market-leading, agile, affordable and secure infrastructure platform which supports profitable growth and enables our digital future,'' Darren Price, Group CIO, RSA said.
''We are excited to enter into this new partnership and will leverage our global expertise to help RSA maximize value from their infrastructure. We see this as a key enabler for RSA to achieve the desired business outcomes from their IT investments,'' Shaji Farooq, president and chief executive, BFSI, Wipro, said.
Wipro said it had mentioned the deal in its Q3 FY15-16 financial results announcement, with a description of RSA but without naming the company.
