World Bank lends Rs1,185-crore for two environment projects in India

The World Bank Group has sanctioned two loans worth around Rs1,185 crore for environment management projects in India.
Of this, Rs897crore will go for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) project and the remaining for Capacity Building for Industrial Pollution Management (CBIPMP) project.
of India and the World Bank today signed two loan agreements, one for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) Project and another for capacity Building for Industrial Pollution Management (CBIPMP), which aims to cleanse ten highly polluted sites in the country.
The loan for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project, signed today, includes IDA credit of SDR 146.9 million (equivalent to $221.965 million).
Capacity Building for Industrial Pollution Management Project has a $25.21 million IBRD loan element and IDA credit of SDR 25.7 million (equivalent to $38.94 million).
The World Bank loan will meet Rs897crore (77.7 per cent) of the Rs1,155.63-crore Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) project. Government of India will bear Rs177.49 crore (15.5 per cent) of the cost and the states Rs80.02 crore (6.9 per cent).
