Hyderabad: The World Bank has launched www.prapanchabank.org, its website in Telugu, the second to be introduced in Indian languages, here on 8 January.

Announcing the launch, Gitanjali S Chopra, who works in the external affairs department of the World Bank's Delhi office, said: "The international financial organisation has decided to make its documents available in local languages where several programmes with World Bank financial assistance are going on."

"We have a transparent public disclosure policy and according to that we are keeping all our documents and papers accessible to the general public. This helps people who want to know about World Bank policies and interventions, while increasing the accountability of funding," she said.

The Telugu site will have an overview, news and events, details on various projects, a section called 'India — Commercial potential,' and development links. The documents will also be available at the British Council Library branches in Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, she said.
