Yahoo Inc is in preliminary talks to buy online video service News Distribution Network (NDN) for $300 million, The Wall Street Journal yesterday reported, citing two people who have been briefed on the matter.
The deal could further add to Yahoo's online video programming and video advertising revenue, the report said.
Founded in 2007, Atlanta-based NDN is a leading digital video and advertising solutions company. It distributes professional multimedia content from trusted brands to high quality digital publishers.
Run by chairman and CEO Greg Peters, NDN is the 4th largest online video platform in the US driving more than 573 million video views per month across 51 million unique viewers.
Used by over 4,500 top publisher sites, including the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Daily News, and Bloomberg, NDN increases traffic and generates new revenue through free access to premium content.
The platform increases reach and revenue for all partners, while eliminating significant infrastructure and operating costs.
NDN is backed by investors, including Google chairman Eric Schmidt's TomorrowVentures, actor Bill Murray and former baseball star Reggie Jackson.
