Yahoo ties-up with Twitter to with content sharing deal

In a bid to win over web surfers who are spending more time on social networking sites, internet portal Yahoo has signed a deal with Twitter to share content across both properties.
The company had reached a similar deal with Facebook in December which made it easier for users to share Facebook status updates and other information.
Twitter features millions of messages posted every minute, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said that the Yahoo integration allowed information in one single tweet to travel light years farther. He added that Tweets in more places brings relevance where and when it was needed most.
The initiative reflects Yahoo's deep desire to leverage the social aspects of the web. According to analysts, it is a trend driven by Facebook and Twitter which have become major forces in directing online web traffic.
The Twitter and Facebook partnerships will be rolled out later this year and the deals would allow users to use material from both sites at the same time, according to Jim Stoneham, vice president of communities for Yahoo.
With the arrangement users would be able to access their Twitter feed on Yahoo's sites and would also be able to update their Twitter status sharing content from Yahoo. Also Yahoo search and media properties would include Twitter updates.
