The ZDX-7100 series offered by Zintec is certified by Irdeto and incorporates several features like scanning, sort services, languages, parental lock feature, electronic programme guide and conditional access. It also extends a unique upgrade software feature that allows users to download the latest software updates for the set-top box live over the air.
Zintec terms the release and decoder verification test (DVT) approval of its products as major milestones for an Indian software development company. “Irdeto DVT certification is very tough to come by, as testing requirements are rigorous. Such acknowledgements boost product trustworthiness and increases customer confidence in our quality standards in the global marketplace,“ says Zintec vice-president (market development) Gerard Meijer.
The Irdeto DVT certification marks the successful building of Zintec IPR, which is licensed to third parties, making it the first Indian software company to roll out such a product and meet the world compliance standards set by DVB (Digital Video Broadcast Group) and MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group).
“The involvement of partners is an essential part of our market approach and our relationship with Irdeto Access, a world leader in technology, for the securing of content from concept to consumer, provides a tremendous opportunity for Zintec to compete in the highly-competitive global home entertainment market,“ says Zintec founder and chairman Chris de Jong.
Irdeto Access is a Dutch-based company providing conditional access solutions for companies worldwide supplying protection of video, audio and data from concept to consumer across all media platforms, including digital TV and IP-streaming media.
In what spells to be good news for Zintec's foray into Indian markets, leading Indian broadcasting players have selected Irdeto Access as their conditional access (CA) provider. Additionally, Zintec Irdeto CA solutions present huge opportunities for licensing revenues.
The broadcasting market in India is set for a major transformation with the availability of high quality of digital uplinking and conditional access facilities within the country.
