Zydus Cadila to host second international symposium on genomics and proteomics

Ahmedabad: The second international symposium on 'current trends in pharmaceutical sciences — role of genomics and proteomics' will be held from January 23 -25, 2005, at the Zydus Research Centre, Ahmedabad. The symposium will be inaugurated by Prof V S Ramamurthy, secretary, department of science and technology, government of India.
Participating as speakers will be eminent scietists and academics including Prof Inder M Verma from the Salk Institute, California, Dr Dalia Cohen from Novartis Pharmaceuticals, USA, Dr Steve Oliver from University of Manchester, UK, Prof Walter Wahli from University of Lausanne, Switzerland, Dr P Balaram from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Dr Samir K Brahmachari from Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Delhi, and Dr Mark Cockett from Bristol-Myers Squibb, USA, among others.
These scientists are working in a diversity of areas in proteomics and genomics, such as, understanding normal and abnormal physiology, identification and validation of drug targets, and their applications through gene therapy and monoclonal antibodies.
The symposium will cover areas such as molecular medicine, chemical genomics, pharmacogenomics, toxicogenomics, clinical genomics, discovery of biomarkers, gene therapy, stem cell research, etc. The symposium is being held under the aegis of Ramanbhai Foundation and will be hosted by the Zydus Research Centre, the research and development arm of Zydus Cadila.
