Banking and finance companies are back in the fray hunting for whiz kids at the Indian Institutes of Management as firms hit by the financial market crisis see light at the end of the tunnel.
In fact, at the summer placements at IIM Bangalore (IIM-B), around half of the students have opted for internship in banking and finance companies while 43 per cent of students at IIM Calcutta opted for it.
Banking and finance majors like Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered, JPMorgan, RBS, Nomura, Bain & Co, Boston Consulting Group, Macquarie and Rothschild are back at the campuses this year with better offers.
The IIMs saw an across-the-sector interest at the summer placements with FMCG companies also coming in large numbers.
IIM-B had 348 students for summer placements against 267 students last year while IIM-C had 407 students.
Around 64 students at IIM-B secured offers for international placement against 85 last year, while 61 students bagged offers from companies for internship at international destinations.
