CAT results to go online on 28 February
27 Feb 2010
According to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) CAT score cards would be uploaded on Sunday though, the IIM authorities are not able to tell the exact time when this will be done.
Officers in the CAT office confirm though, that the score would be released on 28February. Individual IIMs would then send out call letters to shortlisted students for the second phase of the admission process comprising group discussions, personal interview and essay writing. Earlier, aspirants and other B-schools had been assured that CAT scores would be out before the weekend.
According to a B-school director, IIM officials had informed on Friday that uploading of photographs of lakhs of candidates was proving to be a very time consuming process and would be completed only by Sunday.
Last year the earlier pen-and-paper format CAT for admission to the prestigious institutes was scrapped in favour of the online version. The move raised much hue and cry at the time and there were also certain snags at the time the tests were administered, but it is now time for the much awaited results.
About 2.42 lakh candidates had registered for CAT 2009, but in the first admission window, the number of students who actually completed the test was 2.16 lakh. Technical and issues associated with the fact that it was the first time the tests were offered online
could be the reason for this, according to reports.
After the technical fiasco, with what is making the Common Admission Test (CAT) aspirants restless is the declaration of results.
However, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have finally announced to upload the CAT score-cards on February 28, 2010, but the authorities are again not sure of the exact time of declaration.
Officials from the CAT office have, although assured of the declaration of results on Sunday.
