Harvard Business School to hold executive education programme in Mumbai

Harvard Business School plans to hold an executive education programme 'Managing and Transforming Professional Service Firms-India' from 15-18 January at Taj Lands' End, Mumbai.
The leadership development programme has been designed for the facilitation of participants for capturing the emerging opportunities in the current economic environment.
Participants would learn about the latest strategies for capitalising on the new opportunities during uncertain times, implementing models for scaling successful services, responding to market shifts with innovative services, and management of both domestic and global growth.
According to Thomas J DeLong, the Philip J Stomberg professor of management practice in the Organisational Behaviour and faculty chair, the programme would facilitate participants to disrupt the old patterns.
He said, across the globe, organisations were trying to figure out ways to differentiate themselves, adding that participants differentiated their organisations, not only financially but also on the human capital front.
According to Ashish Nanda, director of the Indian Instituted of Management, Ahmedabad and executive education fellow at the Harvard Business School, the programme was appropriate for operational heads from established firms within or outside India.
Meanwhile, to meet the needs of the 21st century scholar by putting business school learning into a real world global context by increasing the virtual and intellectual footprint, was the central theme of the deliberations at the workshop 'Library-Strategic Directions', organised jointly by the University of Mumbai and Harvard business school and initiated by WeSchool recently.
The workshop was conducted by Melissa Shaffer, director, Baker Library 3.0 Strategy and Infrastructure, Harvard Business School (HBS) at WeSchool on 6 December, 2013. The workshop was meant for the team of librarians who participated from colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
Shaffer explained, ''Strategy means creation of a new position with a different set of activities or approaches that create unique value.''
She went on to discuss the strategy adopted by her team for their foray into digital space and social media.
