IIM Rohtak to conduct CAP for admission into new IIMs
09 Jan 2017
IIM Rohtak would conduct the Common Admission Process (CAP) for admission into the new IIMs for the batch of 2017-19. With the CAT 2016 results declared on the official website, the shortlisted candidates would be required to appear for personal interview (PI) and written analysis (WA) for admission into IIM Rohtak, Ranchi, Raipur, Trichy, Kashipur, Udaipur, Amritsar, Bodh Gaya and Sambalpur. The institute, which also conducted the first CAP, would share the results with the other IIMs post evaluation. The CAP was conducted by IIM Kashipur, last year.
It may be noted by aspirants that each of the 9 IIMs followed a different shortlisting criteria and as per the shortlisting criteria it had been suggested for 8th batch of IIM Rohtak, that greater weightage would be given to female and non-engineering background students while shortlisting students to ensure a healthy mix of candidates from diverse backgrounds.
This criterion for each of the IIMs was included in their admission policy which can be seen on their websites. The students shortlisted for some older IIMs might not need to appear for the CAP, as some of the older IIMs would share their PA scores with IIM Rohtak.
Those candidates who had received calls from more than 1 older IIM would have their scores averaged across the IIMs where they had been interviewed. Finally, the scores of PA Process would be shared with the other IIMs participating in CAP, who would then make their own merit lists, according to the normalised scores.
CAT is mandatory for entry into over 100 management institutes across the country, including the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management as also top business schools such as SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Faculty of Management Studies, Management Development Institute, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies and others.
The institutes use the scores with parameters like academic performance, work experience, written assessment, group discussion and interview performance, for final selections.
