Over 40 hurt as Mahakaushal express derails in Uttar Pradesh

Over 40 passengers were injured after eight coaches of the Mahakaushal Express derailed between Laadpur and Supa near Kulpahar station in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred in Kulapahar in Mahoba between Laadpur and Supa near Kulpahar station at around 2 am, officials said.
The Mahakushal Express runs between Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh and Hazrat Nizamuddin in New Delhi.
The coaches that derailed included four air-conditioned coaches, one sleeper, two general and one SLR (Seating cum Luggage Rake) coach.
The train with the remaining coaches and passengers left from the accident site at 6.45 am.
A few trains between Allahabad and Jhansi were diverted after the accident.
The injured included many women and children. The condition of at least four of them is said to be critical.
Following the accident general manager of North Central Railways and other senior railway officials rushed to the spot.
A 47-member NDRF team has reached the Mahakaushal train derailment site in Mahoba. No casualties were reported so far, and there is less probability of people being trapped, say reports.
The ATS of the state police and railway police are also at the site.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed health minister Siddharth Nath Singh to visit the site of Mahakaushal express derailment and oversee the rescue and relief operations there.
Terming the Mahakaushal express derailment incident as 'unfortunate', Singh said it is a matter of probe, adding that necessary compensation will be announced.
''After the chief minister's advice, necessary compensation will be announced. The incident is a matter of probe,'' he added.
