Infosys to hike wages ‘across the board’ in April

Infosys Technologies, India's No2 IT services exporter behind TCS, is planning an ''across the board'' hike in wages in April on a rebound in demand for outsourcing services, a spokeswoman said today.
Infosys and its rivals such as Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro deferred their annual wage hikes in April last year with the global recession hitting investments on technology services of their clients.
Infosys, with a market value of more than $33 billion, announced wage hikes in October last year for this fiscal year ending in March.
In an e-mailed statement the Infosys spokeswoman said the company was considering a wage hike in April. She added that the company expected business to be normal in the coming year and as in a normal year, the company would give hikes in April.
"The hikes will be across the board," she said, adding the quantum of the hikes would be decided in April.
According to The Business Standard which did not quote any sources, Infosys was planning an 8-12 per cent wage increase.
