Amazon to launch budget tablets for $50

Amazon is looking to offer budget conscious consumers, tablets that would retail for $50 according to reports.

The internet retail giant has plans to launch tablets with 6-inch screen, in time for the holiday shopping season, The Wall Street Journal reported. At half the price of Amazon's current 6-inch HD Fire tablet, the new slate would be among the lowest-priced tablets in the market.

The tablet would be among the first in a series Amazon is planning to release this year that would include a 8- and 10-inch screens.

The latter of these would be larger than Amazon's current HDX 8.9 tablet, the report said.
