Gadget designer Apple would announce its next iPhone at an event on 10 September.

Technology website allthingsd reported, citing an unnamed source, said the announcement was likely to be made on 10 September, two days short of a year after last year's iPhone unveiling in San Francisco on 12 September.

The sources though, did not seem to know much more about the next iPhone, and said nothing about whether the launch would be about iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, or whether a budget handset would be simultaneously launched.

However, according speculation that had been rife, the next iPhone would feature a design similar to the iPhone 5, although there was speculation that it would accommodate a larger 4.3 inch display.

What is also known for certain is that the next iPhone would run Apple's iOS 7 operating system. It would also come with several new features including iRadio and a Control Center.

An improved 12 MP rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash plus a built-in fingerprint reader for added security and improved battery life are two additional features that the devices are expected to feature.

Meanwhile, a collection of photos of the dummies of the two forthcoming releases, the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C have appeared in Vietnam. These images have been published in Tinh te, a publication notorious for such case-maker model leaks. The publications depict the iPhone collection for Apple as it would be lined up later this year.

From the photos, the iPhone 5S appears nearly identical to the iPhone 5 apart from a couple of minor distinctions, with one being the  previously rumored dual-LED flash on the back of the iPhone 5S. While every iPhone with a back-facing flash thus far had used a single bulb, the next-generation device would come with a double-dose of bright light.

The front-facing camera on the iPhone 5S appeared to be positioned slightly higher than before and worked with a smaller opening than the iPhone 5.

The same applied to the back-facing camera, with both lens ports being slightly smaller than those in earlier versions.
