Apple to ramp up iPhone 6 production to meet demand

Responding to the high demand for 'iPhone 6 Plus', Apple Inc is said to have tweaked the production of next generation iPhones to cater to the upcoming demand for the device, the online edition of India Today reported.
Though the new strategy is not expected to have immediate effect on the supplies, it is however anticipated to take care of the demand over time.
The report said, suppliers noticed that the iPhone 6 Plus's supply was falling much short of demand and the pace of production had to be stepped up.
The shipment of the big screene iPhone in international markets is expected to be 3-4 million short of the numbers initially expected.
The new iPhones had had a staggering response, and within 24 hours of pre-orders opening, Apple had received an order for as many as 4 million units.
The new iPhones had been launched only in 30 countries with 10 countries covered in the first phase of sales while 20 other countries would be covered in the second round of sales.
The new devices would likely enter the Indian and Chinese market that account for a substantial proportion of Apple's business, on 17 October.
The bookings for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in China had reportedly crossed the 2-million units mark within 6 hours of opening.
Meanwhile, the pre-booking for the much-anticipated iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has opened in India at a starting price of Rs53,500, IBN Live reported.
In addition to e-commerce majors Flipkart and Amazon, authorised distributors of the iPhone 6 smartphones had also started taking pre-orders for the upcoming iPhone models in India.
The Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus would be available across retail stores in India from 17 October.
Prices of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models would range between Rs53,500 to Rs80,500 per unit. The iPhone 6 16GB had been priced at Rs53,500, while the 64GB and 128GB models would be available at Rs62,500 and Rs71,500, respectively.
The prices of the three iPhone 6 Plus models have been pegged at Rs62,500, Rs71,500 and Rs80,500 respectively. However, the iPhone 6 series in India was priced about 10 to 17 per cent higher as against its retail price in US.
In a statement, Ingram Micro, one of the authorised distribuors, said that it would "offer iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the biggest advancements in iPhone history, at leading modern trade stores and retail outlets across India beginning 17.10.2014 at 12:01 AM".
