Audi commences production of Audi A6 at Aurangabad

German luxury car-maker Audi has announced the commencement of production of the all-new Audi A6 in India from its Aurangabad facility, which will roll out 2,000 units of the Audi A6 every year, in the initial.
The new Audi A6 would be manufactured on one production line at the Aurangabad facility, and would provide local employment for 126 individuals.
Both diesel and petrol versions of the Audi A6 would be built in the plant.
The car would be offered to Indian consumers in the second quarter of 2011 for which bookings are to start from 15 June.
The luxury car maker also produces the Audi A4 and the Audi Q5 in Aurangabad and has produced around 5,000 cars since the start of local production in September 2007.
Audi India plans to roll out 4,600 units in 2011 against 2,466 units in the previous year with target for 2015set at 6,000 units each year.
In 2011, Audi India has launched a series of products, starting with the Audi A8 L, followed by the super sports cars, Audi R8 V10 and Audi R8 Spyder.
It followed this up recently with the launch of Audi A7 Sportback and the Coupé, the Audi RS5.
