AMD launches new AMD Sempron processors

Mumbai: AMD (NYSE: AMD) has announced the availability of a new family of its AMD Sempron processors for desktops and notebook Pcs. The AMD Sempron and mobile AMD Sempron processors are designed to deliver best-in-class performance and a full-feature set to meet the evolving day-to-day computing needs of home and business PC users.

Speaking at the launch, Sanjeev Keskar, country manager, AMD Far East, (India) said, "AMD expects the AMD Sempron processor to redefine everyday computing for the value-conscious Indian customer. We are extremely pleased to have the support of leading Indian OEM vendors at our launch today." In India, HCL Infosystems and LG will offer AMD Sempron processor-based systems

Acer and HP are among the leading international OEMs who will offer AMD Sempron processor-based systems Medion, Twinhead, and many more International OEMs and system builders are also expected to offer AMD Sempron processor-based notebook and desktop systems in the second half of this year.

According to Roger Kay, vice president, client computing at IDC, "Consumers and businesses want desktops and notebooks that perform well on everyday applications. As client computing evolves, more buyers are seeking both performance and value, he added.

AMD Athlon64 processors, for those who need performance computing, will continue to be offered for 32-bit performance, capability for tomorrow's 64-bit applications, and 'enhanced virus protection in conjunction with the upcoming Windows XP 'service pack 2'.
