Bharti Airtel rolls out VeriSign Identity Protection services for businesses

With a worldwide increase in phishing scams and identity theft, Bharti Airtel today launched VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) services, from VeriSign - the largest provider of internet infrastructure services, for its enterprise customers in India. VIP service enable organisations to fortify and protect their customers' online identities.
The VIP service offers a token, usable at any VIP member site, that helps end-customers with a two-layer security approach by entering a ''one time password'' after entering their traditional user name and password. It also includes the VIP Fraud Detection Service, that invisibly monitors for any fraudulent activities. The solutions, available on a hosted platform and hence easy to position, require no additional infrastructure and little operational expenditure.
The new Airtel, which is always at the cutting edge of service innovation; through this strategic pact, is facilitating safe and secure web transactions for customers, thus providing impulse to e-commerce and m-commerce, says David Nishball, president, enterprise services, Bharti Airtel Ltd.
VIP Services, the second product of the Airtel-VeriSign partnership (coming on heels of the Regional Internet Resolution Site (IRS)), can be positioned across organisations with large consumer bases, such as online gaming, transactional and travel portals, online retail, financial services, besides others; and also within large organisational ecosystems such as broker/dealer, insurance networks, healthcare extranets, etc.
The partnership will leverage Bharti Airtel's local reach and expertise to deliver VIP service to India, Shekhar Kirani, vice president, VeriSign India, said.
