Airtel Payments Bank has appointed Anubrata Biswas as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. In his new role, Biswas will be responsible for driving Airtel Payments Bank’s mission of taking convenient and innovative digital banking services to the doorstep of every Indian.

Anubrata has over 17 years of experience in the banking sector. Prior to joining Airtel Payments Bank, he was the joint general manager and retail business head - South India for ICICI Bank and was responsible for managing the retail banking business across over 550 branches of the bank.
During his 17-year stint with ICICI, he held several senior level positions, both in India and overseas. He has been Retail Banking Head of ICICI Bank UK Plc, ICICI Bank’s wholly owned subsidiary in the UK. He was also the NRI and Remittances Head of ICICI Bank.
Airtel Payments Bank was the first payments bank to start operations in India. It is a fully paperless and digital bank that aims to take convenient banking services closer to customers by leveraging a vast distribution network of over 500,000 banking points. It has built an ecosystem of millions of merchants where customers can make secure digital payments for good and services.
