Bajaj motorcycles lead industry growth

Bajaj motorycyle sales were 132,028 units in January 2005 v/s 84,500 units in January 2004 representing a 56.3 per cent growth — ahead of the estimated industry growth of 24 per cent. Its market share for the month was 29 per cent, up from 23 per cent
This is the fourth consecutive month that Bajaj's motorcycle volume increase has been the highest in the industry.

The company plans to introduce two new motorcycles in April-June 2005, one each in the entry and premium segments. Moreover the company plans to raise capacity to 200,000 motorcycles a month by July 2005.
Its sales target for FY 2005 is 1.5 million motorcycles — a 50 per cent growth against the expected industry growth of about 20 per cent.
