Bajaj Auto reports higher motorcycle sales for March

In March 2005, Bajaj Auto has led motorcycle sales the sixth consecutive month. March 2005 sales have grown at 42.9 per cent over March 2004, from 94, 223 to 134,670 units — double the estimated industry growth of about 21 per cent (from 118,680 to 144,776) representing a market share of 28.8 per cent v/s 24.5 per cent in March 2004.
Exports grew 79.1 per cent from 13,625 in March 2004 to 24,404 March 2005.
During FY 2004-05 the company sold 1,449,673 motorcycles as against 1,023,551 during FY 2003-04, a growth of 41.6 per cent as against the industry average of 24.6 per cent (1,604,660 units in FY 2004-05 as against 1,288,298 in FY 2003-04).
The company's exports grew at 26.1 per cent from 156,007 to 196,692, with almost 125,000 motorcycles were sold in international markets, establishing significant presence in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Colombia, Guatemala and other Central American countries.
