BMW reports best ever sales in March

Led by triple-digit sales of its popular Series 5 and Series 3, the Indian affiliate of German luxury car maker BMW today said that it had sold 1,027 cars in India. the highest sales in a single month by any luxury car maker so far..
BMW said it had sold 380 units of its Series 5 and 305 of its Series 3. The BMW X1 sold 213 units.
BMW India has delivered 2,147 cars to customers in calendar year 2011 (January - 500 Units, February - 620 Units, March - 1027 Units).
Dr. Andreas Schaaf said, "The new BMW 5 Series has contributed tremendously to the success story of BMW in India and is the largest selling luxury sedan in its segment." He said the new BMW 5 Series had positioned itself as the best business limousine in India
In 2010 calender year, BMW India sold 6,246 cars and had acquired a 40-per cent market share.
Earlier last week Mercedes-Benz India had reported its best ever monthly sales of 833 units in March 2011 reflecting a growth of 89 per cent over March 2010 sales of 440 units and first quarter sales of 2,135 units. Its sales were led by the Merceds C class and E class with 356 and 307 units respectively.
