Café Coffee Day shines at India Barista Championship 2004

Mumbai: Café Coffee Day, India's largest retail chain of cafés has once again won top honours at the India Barista Championship 2004, a coffee brewing specialists' contest organised by The Specialty Coffee Association of India., Coffee Board, India.
Mrs. Lakshmi Venkatachalam, Chairperson, Coffee Board, India, announced the results of the finals at a gala ceremony at Hotel Grand Ashok in Bangalore last night. Also present at the function were representatives from the Coffee Board, India and Mr. Tim O'Connor, head of the judging panel, which comprised of three Indian and four international coffee experts.
Twenty two brew masters from seven coffee groups participated in the championship and all finalists for the seven award categories were from Café Coffee Day. The winner of the prestigious Platinum Trophy, Sanjeev Kumar from Mumbai, won a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and will also represent India at the World Barista Championship at Trieste, Italy later this year. The other winners were Girish KS, Bangalore (Gold Trophy), Sandesh Dalimbkar, Pune (Silver Trophy) and Felix Daniel Mathew, Bangalore (Bronze Trophy). Sanjeev Kumar also won the Best Barista Technique and Best Communications Skill prizes, while Girish KS also picked up the Best Signature Drink prize.
