Cansat to launch training centres in Nepal

Kochi: Cansat, a Thiruvananthapuram-based information technology (IT) company, is going international. It will soon open training divisions in Kathmandu and other Nepalese cities soon.
Cansat has plans to open training divisions in other countries as well, in collaboration with IT majors, says Cansat chief executive officer N G Varghese.
Cansat—comprising Cansat Network Systems and Technologies, Cansat Research and Development, Cansat Infotech, Cansat Information Systems and Cansat Projects — aims to be a national IT organisation by the end of 2002, says Varghese.
Cansat has a combination of internal and external training programmes where it either calls experts from within the organisation or sends its candidates wherever required to get the best possible training. A system of formal feedback of the training programme and its analysis ensures the effectiveness of the training imparted.
Apart from technical training, it gives emphasis to management and behavioural training programmes, ensuring all-round development of its candidates. Industrial tours are frequently arranged to leading companies in India where company executives share their knowledge and experience with the students.
The selection of the candidates is on the basis of a written test and interview. The candidates are tested for their intellectual calibre, knowledge of English, potential for achieving a technical position and leadership quality.
ITI, diploma and degree holders can join Cansat at the entry level in the technical side as trainee engineers. The company has a placement division that organises placement and career development activities to assist students in search of jobs. Counselling services for students on career opportunities as well as personal and academic matters have also been arranged.
Cansat also has projects undertaken after the completion of the programme, which enable the students to work independently and hone the skills acquired during the previous training.
