Caterpillar to ramp up ESD

Chennai: Earthmoving equipment major Caterpillar India is planning to increase the size of its engineering services division (ESD) by hiring 40 more engineers.
The 100-member division caters to engineering design needs of different Caterpillar Inc''s facilities located around the world.
The Thiruvallur lab coverts 2D legacy drawings to 3D compatible to Pro E software, Caterpillar''s own software. According to L Sivaraman, design centre manager, engineering services, Caterpillar Inc sources the engineering design services from 30 vendors and only the ESD is part of the global corporation.
