Dell India comes into the netbook league with the Inspiron Mini 12

Dell has announced the arrival of the Inspiron Mini 12 in the Indian market. The arch-rival of the MacBook Air and Voodoo Envy, the Mini 12 measures under 1.1-inch and is just 0.2 inch thicker than MacBook Air and VooDoo Envy.
Dell will retail the model through its in-store presence at Croma, the electronics retail chain of the Tata's, and though it has not announced the price yet, reports pegged the price tag at around Rs31,000.
Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is powered by the 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530, and has a 533MHz FSB. It has an Intel US15W chipset with 1GB DDR2 533MHz and 80GB 4200RPM hard disk drive.
Standard features such as WiFi (802.11b/g) LAN connectivity and a 1.3 megapixel webcam with Bluetooth are also part of its configuration.
This Mini 12 will run on the Windows XP Home edition, as against the Windows Vista offered as the standard operating system that if offered in the US version.
Its 3-cell battery is said to last for around three hours, thought an alternative 6-cell option could extend battery life to around 6.5 hours.
The Mini 12 is expected to make its India début by around end January 2009.
