Punit Renjen to be next global chief of Deloitte

India-born Punit Renjen was on Monday named as the chief executive of Deloitte Global. He will take over from Barry Salzberg as head of the global accounting firm.
Renjen has held a number of leadership positions, including chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP. In addition to being chairman of Deloitte LLP. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (Deloitte Global), and as chairman of the Deloitte Foundation board of directors.
He has been selected as Deloitte Global's new chief executive officer, and will assume the new role on 1 June 2015, the start of Deloitte Global's new fiscal year.
Renjen, who has been working with Deloitte for the last 27 years, is the first Indian-origin person to head a 'Big-Four' audit firm.
Deloitte is one of the biggest accounting firms in the world, competing with PwC, EY and KPMG.
Earlier he was chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP. "Under his direction, Deloitte Consulting has been recognised in several leadership rankings by top-tier industry analysts in the areas of mergers, acquisition, divestitures, post-merger integration, strategy, operations consulting and business advisory," said a note on Willamette website yesterday.
Renjen, who hails from Rohtak, Haryana, grew up in India and did his schooling at Lawrence School in Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh. He has a bachelor's degree with honours and a master's degree in management from Willamette University, US.
