Essar’s outsourcing arm Aegis plans centre in Manchester
15 Jul 2011
Aegis, the global business process outsourcing company of the Essar Group, on Thursday announced plans to enter the UK and European markets, which it has not tapped so far.
To this end, it is setting up a new centre in Manchester, which it says will create 600 new jobs locally in the still recession-hit country when it becomes operational later this year.
Its new customer centre will be spread across 40,000 sq ft at the City Tower in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, and will service a number of blue chip clients.
Aegis plans a further expansion across various countries in continental Europe, where a number of additional customer service centres will be opened in the next two years. The company has over 50,000 employees across 50 locations globally.
''We're delighted to be launching our European presence with a new customer centre in Manchester. This approach of setting up greenfield centres in our target markets will be at the heart of Aegis's plans to further expand in other European countries,'' Aparup Sengupta, global chief executive and managing director of Aegis, said in a statement.
Aegis further plans expansion across Europe, where a number of additional customer service centres will be opened during the next two years, Sengupta added.
