New Delhi: Encyclopædia Britannica's contributions to the dissemination of knowledge were recognised at the 16th World Book Fair, as the Federation of Indian Publishers presented the publisher with two top awards for Excellence in Book Production.

Britannica received one award in the ''Reference category'', for Encyclopaedia of Hindi Cinema, and another in the ''Regional category'', for Malayalam Concise Encyclopaedia. Mr. Anand Bhushan, President, Federation of Indian Publishers, presented the awards.

Commenting on the awards, Mr. Aalok Wadhwa, Managing Director, Encyclopaedia Britannica India said, "both publications, Encyclopaedia of Hindi Cinema and Malayalam Concise Encyclopaedia, have received tremendous response from our readers . Our core focus while putting the books together was to provide an offering exclusive to Indian readers. It is heartening to know that our endeavour at providing an integrated array of books is being acknowledged by an organisation of the stature of the Federation of Indian Publishers."

The Encyclopaedia of Hindi Cinema is an exhaustive attempt by Encyclopædia Britannica to capture the enigmatic past of Indian Cinema, presenting a holistic, informed view of the lineage of this cultural heritage. The book brings together contributions from a priceless array of experts, who either have first-hand knowledge of the craft of filmmaking or have observed the industry from close quarters for decades. The book also includes biographies of eminent film personalities. The editorial board comprises the eminent Govind Nihalani, Gulzar, and Saibal Chatterjee.

The Malayalam Concise Encyclopaedia has the honour of being Encyclopædia Britannica's first world encyclopaedic reference in an Indian regional language, co-published by DC Books, Kerala. Authoritative, accessible and affordable, this set packs basic information, put together by the editors of the 32-volume Encyclopædia Britannica and the 7-volume Students' Britannica India, in two thousand pages.
