Facebook CEO Zuckerberg tops in CEO survey
16 Mar 2013
Mark Zuckerberg has emerged right at the top of a 2013 list of the 50 best-rated CEOs, with a 99-per cent approval rating from employees..
The empoyee rankings, conducted by Career website Glassdoor, had earned Zuckerberg 85-per cent employee ratings last year, even as Apple CEO Tim Cook dropped a spot from last year to 18th this year, with an approval rating of 93 per cent, slippeing from 97 per cent last year.
Commentators say a 93-per cent approval rating and the 18th spot are still highly respectable, considering that the list was based on over 500,000 company surveys submitted through Glassdoor within the past year.
Other companies that came in at the top of the list include Qualcomm, Google, NVIDIA, and Amazon.
Other chiefs rounding up the top five honours in the Glassdoor survey are SAP co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe, McKinsey's CEO Dominic Barton, Ernst & Young CEO Jim Turley as also Northwestern Mutual CEO John Schlifske.
The survey quoted an unnamed Facebook employee as saying that the company was an open community from Zuckerberg downwards. He added, Facebook fostered mutual trust across the company and a sense of community and drive, instilled by its CEO who was respected by all employees.
Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) CEO Meg Whitman, the only woman on the list last year with a ranking of 24, failed to figure in the top 50 in 2013.
The only woman to make the list was Victoria's Secret CEO Sharen Turney, with an 82-per cent approval rating.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer scored an 87 per cent approval rating, but given the fact that not enough Yahoo employees voted in the survey, she was not eligible for the list, in which she could have come in at the 32nd spot, Glassdoor said.
