General Motors India introduces compact sedan Sail

General Motors India, today announced the launched of its compact sedan Sail in India, which will compete with Maruti's Dzire, Toyota's Etios, Ford's Classic and M&M's Verito.
The company is also gearing upto launch its multi purpose vehicle 'Enjoy' in next three months.
The Sail petrol version is being launched priced between Rs4.99 lakh and 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the petrol version, while the diesel is priced between Rs6.29 lakh and 7.51 lakh for diesel version.
The Sail was launched in China nearly a year ago, where it became the largest selling car with the company selling more than 7 lakh units.
''What we are looking at offering to Indian customers is a vehicle at an affordable price. We are hoping to create excitement in the market with new launches like Sail and we hope to garner a significant share in the entry level sedan market,'' General Motors India Chief Executive Officer Anil Mehrotra said.
The sedan is based on General Motors' earlier launched hatchback Sail U-VA, and is built on a new global passenger car platform created especially for emerging markets.
The car, positioned in the entry-level sedan segment in India, comes with a 5-speed gearbox specially tuned for Indian roads.
GM India has scheduled to launch its MPV Enjoy with in the next three months, even as it will continue to launch new variants for existing models.
A larger car, the MPV would be available in both petrol and diesel variants, and would compete with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
