General Motors India to recall Chevrolet Cruze sedan over faulty ignition system
02 Sep 2016
General Motors Indian subsidiary is recalling limited units of its premium Chevrolet Cruze sedan to fix faulty ignition system that can stall the engine.
The latest recall comes a year after General Motors India recalled 101,597 units of its Chevrolet Beat diesel over a faulty clutch pedal lever.
General Motors India did not say how many units it is recalling, but said that the recall affects Chevrolet Cruze sedan vehicles manufactured between 2009-2011.
Due to a fault in the ignition system of the car, the engine stalls at low speeds.
"This is a voluntary recall and, as far as we are aware, does not affect the safety of the vehicle but we want to make sure that our customers experience the right performance from their vehicles," General Motors India vice president – Aftersales, Markus Sternberg, said in a statement.
"We are committed to putting our customers at the center of everything we do and providing safe, high-quality vehicles. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction.
The affected vehicles will be repaired free of charge at all its service centres across the country.
