GM''s Chevrolet Tavera to debut soon

Planning to take on vehicles in a segment currently dominated by Mahindra's Scorpio and the Toyota Qualis, General Motors India is planning to launch a big family car under its Chevrolet brand in the second quarter of 2004.
This spacious MUV should seat 10 people and sport an elegant, stylish and a contemporary design. The company says that it has received excellent consumer feedback at internal researches that more and more people are viewing the MUV segment as an alternate to a car and it is confident that its Chevrolet branded multi-purpose vehicle Tavera will do exceptionally well.
The MUV segment in the country has boomed with sales touching 83,000 units in 2003, a whopping 47 per cent growth over 2002. The sales are expected to touch nearly 100,000 this year.
The
Tavera will be powered by a high performance turbo diesel
engine from Isuzu. These turbo diesel engines are easy
to maintain and fuel efficient.
