Google Talk goes down for four hours
27 Jul 2012
Google Talk, the popular instant messaging service used by millions across the world, went down for four hours yesterday with the outage, which started around 4 pm India time, affecting users across the world. The service came back on line around 8.25 pm.
The outage was first reported by social networking site Twitter users.
"Google Talk being down is massively annoying! You don't realise how much you take it for granted," Pete Gould, a Twitter user said.
Many users of the service reported that they could log into the service, could see their contacts with the respective status but could not send messages to them. Some other users found they could not log in.
The service does not only allow people to keep in touch with friends but has become a popular way to interact with co-workers in offices.
With the service restored around 8.25 pm Google said, "Google Talk service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change."
