Google Street View car catches itself speeding

Google's Street View cars have swept the length and breadth of the UK capturing Britain's highways and byways. But one eagle-eyed viewer has spotted something that could land the tech giant in hot water with Glasgow authorities.

When travelling down St George's Road in the Scottish city, Google's camera car appears to have snapped itself speeding.

Images on the mapping service - which are still live - show a speed detection sign lit up at 37 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Although this occurred last June, it's only recently been noticed by Dutch cyclist Twan van Duivenbooden who tweeted about it.

Further in front of the speed detection sign is a "20mph when lights flash" warning letting drivers know they're approaching a school zone.

This is hardly the first time that Google's kerb-crawling cameras have picked up some interesting pictures.

Earlier this month images were found showing a terrified horse dismounting its rider after being spooked by the vehicle.

While out and about, the car spotted the pony and rider on the road in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland.

The vehicle was coming up behind the horse when the animal got spooked and bolted across the field. Unfortunately the rider, who is seen in the car's next shot lying on the ground.

The next image appears to show the rider and horse together, implying that the Google car stopped - and the rider was OK after the ordeal.
