Auto Expo 2010: Mercedes plays hardball in luxury segment
06 Jan 2010
Mercedes-Benz is clearly not happy that it has been overtaken by fellow-German carmaker BMW in the Indian luxury car segment. Taking the largest stand-alone luxury pavilion at the show, Mercedes unleashed 'Pure Fascination' coupe.
Other Mercedes models on show included the new C250, the new E350 and E350CDI, and the AMG range of performance cars. Also showcased were the yet to be launched M-Class luxury edition as well as the E-Coupe.
Explaining the direction the company expects to take this year, its India managing director Johannes Fritz said, ''As pioneers of the luxury market in India, it becomes even more imperative for us to consistently deliver on the expectations of our Indian customer and continue to set the course for the future of premium auto brands in India. Our participation at the Auto Expo is an indication of the excitement that our customers can look forward to, in 2010.''
