Even as sales of its premium hatchback Jazz continued to sag, Honda Siel Cars India today launched a new version of the model, priced at Rs7.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new variant is Rs30,000 the existing model.
The new 'Jazz X' comes as part of the company's plans to boost sales volumes of the car, which amounted to only 514 units in July 2010, as against 1,037 units in the same month last year.
The latest variant boasts a new sporty exterior styling, enhanced interiors as also several new value-added features, including an audio system equipped with a USB port and alloy wheels according to Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI)'s statement.
Jazz sales had peaked at the time of launch in June 2009 but then tapered off.
During the April-July period this fiscal, the hatchback notched up sales of 1,564 units as against 3,069 units in the corresponding period last fiscal which was down 49 per cent.
The Jazz is powered by a 1.2 L petrol engine and has a five-speed manual transmission.
