Honda sells 1 lakh units of Amaze in 16 months

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has sold one lakh units of its sedan Amaze within 16 months of its launch. The sedan was launched in April 2013.
''This is a very proud moment for us. Amaze has witnessed great success in the Indian market and the 1 lakh sales milestone only validates its strong presence. Amaze has been a game changer in its segment and has enabled HCIL to reach out to a whole new set of customers experiencing the joy of owning and driving a Honda car,'' Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president (marketing and sales), HCIL said.
HCIL had entered into the diesel car segment with the launch of Amaze. The sedan comes with a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine and 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine.
The Amaze was declared as the 'car of the year' and 'compact sedan of the year' by leading automobile magazines and has clinched 12 major automobile awards in 2013–14. Amaze is available in 12 variants - E, EX, S, SX and VX (in manual transmission in petrol and diesel) and S and VX in automatic transmission in petrol).
HCIL has two manufacturing facilities at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Tapukara, in Rajasthan. The company's product range includes Brio, Amaze, Mobilio, City and CR-V.
On 31 July, Mahindra & Mahindra said it hd sold over one lakh units of its cheetah-inspired XUV500 in less than three years of launch in India.
Launched in September 2011, XUV500 was designed entirely in-house at Mahindra's research and development facility in Chennai.
