Chennai: Hyundai Motor India Ltd has reported that its sales headed somewhat south in the domestic market during February 2008, when compared to February 2007.
In February 2008, Hyundai sold 14,600 units in India, against 15,459 units in February 2007.
However, Hyundai managed to export more in February 2008, by 4,834 units. It exported a total of 14,401 units last month, compared to the 9,567 units in February 2008.
Hyundai's cumulative sales for February 2008 stood at 29,001 units, against 25,026 units sold last February.
The segment-wise sales in February are as follows:

Arvind Saxena, senior vice president of the company, said that the central government budget has brought in some good news, which should provide the necessary impulsion for the small car growth.
''We have already passed on the benefit of the excise duty cut to customers on three models, the Santro, the i10 and the Getz, and we expect sales of these models to grow in the coming months,'' Saxena said.
