Hyundai Motor India reaches 20 lakh domestic production and sales

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) today said that it has achieved 20 lakh sales and production figures in the domestic market.
H W Park, managing director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said, ''We believe this was possible because of our total commitment to the Indian market and the faith our customers have put in our products.''
The 20-lakh car production mark was achieved in about 12 years, the company said in a statement.
HMIL has a manufacturing plant near Chennai and commissioned its second plant in February 2008, which produces an additional 300,000 units per annum, raising HMIL's total production capacity to 600,000 units per annum.
Hyundai Motor India Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), South Korea and is the largest passenger car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in India.
HMIL presently markets seven models of passenger cars across segments. The A2 segment includes the Santro, i10 and the i20, the A3 segment includes the Accent and the Verna Transform, the A5 segment includes the Sonata Transform and the SUV segment includes the Santa Fe.
