IBM leads in server revenues in Q2 2005: IDC

IBM''s server revenues in India grew at more than twice the rate at which the overall server market expanded in Q2 2005 compared with the year earlier period. IBM India continued to sustain its leadership in the overall x86 and x86 blade server market segments in revenue terms for Q2 2005.
In non-x86 Unix server market, IBM''s revenues registered a phenomenal growth 150 per cent YoY, while the growth in the overall UNIX market in India declined by 11 per cent. IBM''s revenue share in the non-x86 Unix server segment in India increased by 22.7 points on a year-ago basis in Q2 2005.
Says Sanjit Sinha, senior manager, hardware research, IDC India Limited, "Today, IBM is establishing new dynamics for the server market. They emerged leaders in revenue terms in both X-86 and non X-86 server market in Q2 2005, which proves that customers are acknowledging their capabilities. Having established leadership positioning even in the Midrange enterprise servers, (in terms of revenue), IBM have reached another milestone. IBM is building a strong value net of business partners who definitely help drive more business for it in India."
IBM maintained its market leadership position in the x86 server segment in revenue terms with 39 per cent year-on-year growth that enabled it to capture 32.1 per cent share in Q2 2005.
